Premise
The Best of Star Trek was a comic book paperback collecting eight issues from DC ComicsStar Trek (TOS) monthlies, volume 1 (including two annuals) and volume 2, spanning from 1984 to 1991.
It depicted the events of a later missions taking place between the events of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Some events of the first DC series don't fit very well into canon, such as portions of the series set between Star Trek III and Star Trek IV which depicted Admiral James T. Kirk in temporary command of the Excelsior, with Captain Spock reassigned to the USS Surak.
