A Terellian cargo freighter was a type of cargo freighter utilized by the Terellians during the 24th century. To the trained eye, they could be readily identified by their interior design. The cargo module utilized rechargeable power cells to function. They also carried a large supply of microfusion flares.

Many years prior to 2370, a Terrellian freighter crash landed with a single Human survivor named Anna. After seven years stranded on the planet, she was rescued.

Some time later, several years prior to 2370, the Iyaarans of Iyar discovered the remains of one of these freighters on a class M planet, containing Anna's logs, giving them a glimpse into Human culture.

In 2370, the freighter was part of a simulation in which the Iyaaran Ambassador Voval explored the concept of love with Captain Jean-Luc Picard by appearing as Anna. According the ruse, the ship crashed on Stardate 40812, seven years prior. (TNG: "Liaisons")

Background information[]

According to the script, this set was described as a "cargo freighter". Its interior incorporated "[..] a long, tunnel-like room, with a single door along one side. A few half-charred consoles can be seen...and several cargo containers, which are nothing more than shapes in the dim light. The room is CANTED slightly, as if it's been in a crash."

Terellian cargo freighter, sketch

Preliminary sketch

Concept art for this vessel was designed by Rick Sternbach with preliminary sketches drawn in July 1993, where it was described as a "Crashed Cargo Vessel".

Of note, it was indicated that the forward section was a "Smashed Impulse Towship (Possibly less damaged than indicated, most confined to nose.)" The forward section was connected to "Cargo Modules" said to "reflect set wall design (see blueprints)." Other components pointed out included the freighter's "Structural Spine" and "Broken Warp Pods". (Star Trek: The Next Generation - The Continuing Mission, p. 197)
