Template:Stub-character
Edit
- Anonymous user-created stub with no authorization; last time I checked, you can't do that, especcially if you're unregistered. -Platypus Man | Talk 13:39, 10 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Keep for now -- Platypus222, where did you "check" that? I've no problem with IP users contrbuting to templates, as long as the content is acceptable. -- Captain Mike K. Barteltalk 13:52, 10 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- I only said "checked" as a figure of speech. I wasn't sure about it, but then Gvsualan said this on this person's talk page:
- " Additionally, users cannot freely make changes to our templates, especially un-registered users. Thanks. --Alan del Beccio 06:31, 10 Sep 2005 (UTC)"
- So I thought that that applied not only to editing templates, but creating them as well. If you're right, then I retract my claim. My bad. -Platypus Man | Talk 14:15, 10 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Sometimes you need to deter those that have the potential of being troublemakers, and the user in question was already doing a mild amount of vandalism at that point. Also, it was my understanding that we typically discuss these things, creating new templates and so forth before implimenting them to keep from finding them on this page at a later date. --Alan del Beccio 19:48, 10 Sep 2005 (UTC)

- Eh, go ahead and keep. What could it hurt? --Shran 18:50, 10 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Comment If they are kept, they'd need their own category "production stubs" or "character stubs", not just normal stubs, as then there would be no point. But I think production stub is much more usefull then Character stubs.- AJHalliwell 19:46, 10 Sep 2005 (UTC)
- Just an aside, i have no problem with multiple templates -- kind of like how {{delete image}} and {{replaceimage}} both leave the artiles in the same category -- but give you the option of two messages, and then you don't need two separate categorie -- they both could stay in Category:Memory Alpha stubs -- but you could sort between them with the Memory Alpha:What links here links in each. -- Captain Mike K. - Definitely keep, there's nothing wrong with anonymous contributors creating templates. However, I don't think they necessarily need their own category - the various "What links here" pages might be enough. The other way round, if we decide to have separate categories for each stub type, we should discuss them first and only then create the stub messages, as these categories would probably be the same or similar to "top-level" categories of our category structure. -- Cid Highwind 20:23, 10 Sep 2005 (UTC)
