Usage of this template is similar to the {{wikipedia}} template in that the link defaults to using the page name as entry. So, in the Species 8472 article, if a link to that same entry on the Star Trek Online Wiki is desired, only the template name has to be used, such as

{{STOwiki}}

This would produce the following link:

Species 8472 at The Star Trek Online Wiki

If a link to another article name is desired, such as "Undine," while still displaying the page name, the following format should be used:

{{STOwiki|Undine|Species 8472}}

This would produce the link

Species 8472 at The Star Trek Online Wiki

If you wanted a link to the Species 8472 article, as well as use their title "Undine," as the link text, you would use:

{{STOwiki|Undine}}

Which would result in

Undine at The Star Trek Online Wiki
