Team navigator was a position in Nova Squadron at Starfleet Academy that was filled by a cadet, who was responsible for filing a flight plan with the Academy.

In 2368, Cadet Jean Hajar was picked by Nicholas Locarno to be the team navigator of Nova Squadron. After the death of one of their teammates, Joshua Albert, in a shuttle accident, Hajar came under fire from Rear Admiral Brand during an inquiry regarding Albert's death for filing an inaccurate flight plan to the Academy before the team began maneuvers near Saturn. It was later discovered the team had been trying to attempt the Kolvoord Starburst, an illegal maneuver, and had been trying to cover up their involvement in it. (TNG: "The First Duty")
