Tarod system was an inhabited star system in Sector 30. The Federation had built an outpost in this system prior to 2364. This system lay close to the Romulan Neutral Zone.

In 2364, on a date before stardate 41903.2, the Borg attacked the ninth planet in this system. Subsequently, the starship USS Enterprise-D scanned the ruins of this outpost on a tour of the devastated sector. (TNG: "The Neutral Zone", "Q Who")
