Tarod IX was the ninth planet in the Tarod planetary star system. In the mid-24th century, this planet was the location of a Federation outpost. The USS Enterprise-D's second stop on its tour of the destroyed outposts in Sector 30 was at this planet.
Near this system, on its passage to the next destroyed outpost, the Enterprise-D made contact with a Template:ShipClass warbird. (TNG: "The Neutral Zone")
It was later determined that the outpost had been attacked by the Borg. (TNG: "Q Who")
Tarod IX was located in Sector 30 (Tarod Sector). Tarod system was a binary star system. Primary was a Class K star. It had a magnitude of -1, which was 100 times brighter than Sol. The stellar companion in this system was a Class M star. (Star Trek: Star Charts, page 66)
