A targ scoop was a device used on the front of Klingon ground assault vehicles to prevent collisions with targ herds. By emitting a high-frequency tone, the animals were dispersed away from the path of the vehicle.

In 2371, Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres used the idea of the targ scoop when modifying the main deflector of the USS Voyager to emit an inverted magnetic pulse, in order to disperse a pursuing fleet of Swarm ships. (VOY: "Elogium")
