Tanner in 2161.

Ensign Tanner was an Earth Starfleet officer during the 22nd century.

Tanner was assigned to the armory on Enterprise under Tactical officer Reed starting in 2151. When Reed was briefly in command of the ship, Tanner manned the helm and later an aft station. (ENT: "The Andorian Incident")

He served as relief helmsman during the absence of Travis Mayweather when Enterprise had to deal with an unidentified species. In the current time he served in the aft section on the bridge and reached Captain Archer a flash light when the main power went offline. (ENT: "Silent Enemy")

In early 2152, Lieutenant Reed was hoping to add a third officer assigned full time to the armory, this would give Tanner the time to begin upgrades to the torpedo launchers. (ENT: "Minefield")

He was also a relief helmsman serving in place of Travis Mayweather while Mayweather was detained by the Tandarans in their Detention Complex 26 in 2152. (ENT: "Detained")

Captain Archer later requested for Ensign Tanner to relieve Travis Mayweather from the makeshift helm in the catwalk after he passed the ship through a maze of plasma eddies so Travis could get some rest. (ENT: "The Catwalk")

In 2161, he attended the Federation Founding Ceremony. (ENT: "These Are the Voyages...")

Appearances

Background

Tanner, who was identified by name in "Minefield" and "The Catwalk", was played by regular uncredited extra and stand-in Evan English. In his final appearance he wore no rank insignia, implying the rank of Crewman. This was likely a costuming mistake, but it is equally likely that the character was also demoted.
