A tank was a type of fighting vehicle. Consisting of heavy armor and a large cannon, a tank was often a critical part of a land battle. The Germans were known for their Panzer tank divisions during World War II. (VOY: "The Killing Game")

On the planet Ekos, the Ekosians also used tanks for warfare against the Zeons, who were the victims of prejudice on that world, since they were colonists from the planet Zeon. (TOS: "Patterns of Force")
