Talur was a female Barkonian in the 24th century. She was a teacher and scientist in her community on Barkon IV.

Talur was an objective and rational person, but she was prone to leaps of logic based on little or no evidence. When Lieutenant Commander Data was sent to retrieve fragments of a crashed Federation probe from Barkon IV in 2370, Talur argued that his unusual appearance meant he was from the mountains to the north, and that his great strength was a natural response to the predators of that region. This was despite the fact that she had never been to the north and had no knowledge that predators such as she described even existed in that region. She also believed and taught to the village children that matter was composed of three or four elements such as fire, water, air and earth.
