Talos III was the third planet in the Talosian star system. Approximately 2.5 astronomical units from the binary stars of Talos, this planet had a ring system. Prior to 2285, the United Federation of Planets had established a colony on this planet. The location of Talos III was depicted on a Federation star chart in 2293. It was located near Andor, Eminiar, and Phylos. (TOS: "The Cage"; Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan; Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)
The planet was never mentioned in dialog; this name came from a map of the Talosian system. Talos III was mentioned again on a cargo-box seen in The Wrath of Khan.
According to Star Trek: Star Charts, the system was located in the Alpha Quadrant. (pg. 34) It was depicted as a planet with rings. Talos III was classified as a Class L (Marginal) planet. (pg. 40)
