NameEdit

The VHS of "fair trade" calls Wixiban "Wix Aban". This would fit in with the fact that Neelix often called him "Wix". zsingaya 14:28, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)

In the opening credits? Tough Little Ship 14:31, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I'll just check... I only mention it because I've just watched the episode. zsingaya 14:34, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)

There's no mention of the character's name in the opening credits. He is called Wixiban in the Encycolpedia. They can't be both right! zsingaya 14:41, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)

This site: [1] calls him Wix Aban, so I guess I'm not making it up! Also, its come to my attention, that the Nekrit Expanse isn't called Nekrit, but Necrid. Thats how they say it on-screen. zsingaya 14:56, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)

That website looks respectable enough. I'd be inclined to trust them. Tough Little Ship 14:59, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I assume this is the back cover blurb for the VHS? They don't necessarily check with the scripts or the producers for the correct spellings, and are, in fact, notoriously inaccurate (for example, the first three seasons of DS9 on video detailed the stardates each of the episodes took place, even when most of them didn't state a stardate...). The Encyclopedia and StarTrek.com use Wixiban, and they do go from the scripts - that is what I consider to be correct. I would imagine that the website you linked above may have gotten the spellings off closed captioning, which too is typically inaccurate (my VHS copy of "The Way of the Warrior" consistently uses 'Galron' when meaning Gowron). -- Michael Warren | Talk 15:02, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Agreed, I say keep Nekrit and Wixiban the way they are. -AJHalliwell 16:27, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)
A little (late) add: In the German dubbing of this episode he is definitively called "Wix Aban", Tuvok even calls him "Mr. Aban". Don't know where this comes from--Bravomike 00:01, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Think naughty things when you pronounce his name and you'll know why they changed it... --Jörg 00:15, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
In German or English...? --Alan 00:34, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Think "Wank-aban". --Jörg 01:18, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
