While Valeris is referred to as a lieutenant throughout Star Trek VI, she's actually wearing the rank insignia of a lieutenant commander... so, um, which is correct for the sake of canon? Ekedolphin 01:43, 2 Oct 2005 (UTC)

  • I dunno. Chakotay has a similar situation, always called "Commander," but wearing the ranks of a provisional lieutenant-commander. However, Chakotay's would be acceptable, this one would not. -Platypus Man | Talk 01:55, 2 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Uniform Inconsistencies - How's that for an Oxymoron? Edit

By the time ST:VI was made the scheme for the uniforms was not being followed. She's also wearing a red "trainee" undershirt for the whole film. I can't rationalize it, and I'd guess the only reason is because it looked good on Kristy Allie in ST:II. As for the badges, IIRC up until that time we had never offically seen a full Lt. or an Lt. Commander badge. They picked one of several previously unseen fan made designs for the costume and they picked the "wrong" one. --GreatBear 06:51, 1 Jan 2006 (UTC)

Gene Roddenberry did state that there were elements of this film which he did not consider canon. Perhaps this is one of them. Solution: Have a handful of true fans on the set for continuity control.

Facial protrusion? Edit

In the new profile pic, there is a prominent ridge bone in front of Valeris's ear. Is that part of her Vulcan makeup or just a natural part of Catrall's face? And do we know for sure she was Vulcan, not Romulan? Even the two peoples have mixed themselves up more than once. Cepstrum (talk) 13:12, March 15, 2011 (UTC) (move to ref desk if appropriate – I just thought others might look for it here.)

Ha, I hadn't noticed that before. How wiered! Even having looked at some other pictures of her online, I can't determine whether it's her or the makeup, but IIRC that was the scene where she was found out, so it could be she is clenching her jaw tight in anxiety, thus highlighting the bone, perhaps? It is strange, though. Good question! --| TrekFan Open a channel 13:45, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
I think that's simply Kim Catrall's facial bone structure when she clenches her face. You can see similar facial structures on Sex and the City. -- sulfur 13:51, March 15, 2011 (UTC)
Throughout Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country Valeris displays way too much emotion to be Vulcan, she must be Romulan --T'vana of the house of Kor 11:19, March 20, 2011 (UTC)
Still speculation. -- sulfur 12:31, March 20, 2011 (UTC)
