Source of name[]

" Since the US Navy ships were named after the encampment and training ground outside of Philadelphia why do we need this extra note. - The problem is that the US ship is one that had a notable history, and by the 24th century, Starfleet (made up of many races and planets) might have named this for the ship, not the encampment. Having that in the note does not detract from the possibility that it is in fact named after the encampment, it only allows for the fact that we are not going to make up what is and is not canon. --OuroborosCobra talk 06:36, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Destroyed?[]
I just watched Tears of the Prophets, and as I often do, I had used slow-motion to see if I could visually identify any of the ships at the battle. The Valley Forge is one that is quite clearly identifiable, as it passes at very close range by the camera as it's being struck.
My question is, are we sure it was destroyed? We never actually SEE its destruction, after all; when it last appears on screen, it looks to be disabled. At that point, the platforms have stopped firing on it, perhaps targeting more threatening vessels.
Also, should it be noted in the article that part of the damage it sustained was due to the apparent destruction of an Akira Class starship? Watching the footage in slow-mo, it is very clear that the heavy damage inflicted on the Valley Forge's starboard nacelle (ie, the aft half of it being torn off) was the result of an Akira's saucer slamming into it in the process of being destroyed itself. The Akira was being targeted by three separate OWPs and after a torpedo hit it careened out of control, clipping the Valley Forge's nacelle. – The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.82.58.13.
