Class and registry Edit
- Near as I can tell, nothing except the Star Trek Encyclopedia. It was not seen in the episode. I'll add the citation. Aholland 23:42, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
I removed a whole bunch of speculation about alternative namesakes. We should stick with what can be referenced to production sources:
- The Valdemar may have been named for one of the historical kings of Denmark, and some have speculated that it was named after the fictional land created by Mercedes Lackey.
And this is unnecessary commentary:
- [after the Encyclopedia note] It remains, however, somewhat unusual that a starship should be named for a historical figure's first name, although this might be the case with at least one other starship, namely the USS Horatio.
