We also have a USS Tripoli mentioned on casualty reports in DS9. Do we say its a different ship? Or that it was brought out of the Z15 depot and put into war service? -- Ben Sisko 16:19, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Good question:
  • We know from that report that the Tripoli during the war had the registry "NCC-19386". Do we know its class? Also, MA/de claims that this ship was mentioned destroyed in "In the Pale Moonlight". Correct?
  • Then we know of a Tripoli that found Data in 2338. Do we know its registry? Its class?
  • Last but not least, there's the Tripoli from the depot. Do we know its registry or class?
The answer to your question (and a possible rewrite of this article) depends on the answers to those questions. :) -- Cid Highwind 16:31, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Answers:
  • "In the Pale Moonlight"-- the class was not given, nor was the ship identified as "destroyed." It was simply identified in the casualty report with the registry "NCC-19386."
  • "Datalore"-- the class was not given in this case either, however it was stated that the Tripoli that discovered Data was a "cruiser".
  • "Unification I"-- the class was not given in this case either, however it was stated that the Tripoli used here was a "holding vessel", and was identified in an Okudagram with the same registry as above, "NCC-19386."
Summary: two of the three references clearly identify the same registry number, in all cases no class designation was specifically given, and just generic qualifiers like "cruiser" and "holding vessel". That is all... --Alan del Beccio 03:43, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
