I based this article on the real world definition of a transceiver- as far as I know, it is never specifically defined in Trek, much like the terms 'transmitter' or 'engine'. How do I cite my sources here? It's basically just a working-from-memory definition of a transceiver; a definition that's not likely to change in 350 years, even if the signals transmitted have. :) Resonancewave 17:43, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

You don't need to cite the basic definition; like you say, it's well-established and not likely to change. What needs to be cited is the use of the term within the Trek universe, i.e. episodes where it was used and it what context, etc. -- Renegade54 18:14, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

I removed the following, as it has lacked a citation for nearly four years now. While it seems likely (and I'm sure it's stated in various background sources), there doesn't seem to be any dialogue to support it. All refs to "subspace transceivers" concern ships, stations and consoles as far as I can determine.
