Name change[]

Should we really have a redirect for a new name that does not exist yet, won't exist until this summer, and for all we know might get changed between now and then? --OuroborosCobra talk 20:00, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

It's official as it's been announced. Whether that changes in the future doesn't mean it isn't official :)...stupid name anyway — Morder 20:24, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
A website is up with a press release stating when it will start, so the name exists and it seems they plan to use it. Is it premature? Possibly, but I personally don't see a huge problem with this, as some people might come here looking for it and it is valid information.--31dot 20:24, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

No, it doesn't exist yet. It has been announced that it will in the future. --OuroborosCobra talk 20:34, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you mean by "it doesn't exist". If you mean "it's not in use", yes, it isn't, but it will be. We have a few articles here about Trek projects which either were changed (Star Trek: Phase II) or never came to fruition.(Star Trek: The Beginning) We still mention them here, either as articles or as links.--31dot 20:51, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
The name change is incredibly stupid, but it has been announced, so it doesn't really hurt to have that redirect active already. However, and just as a precaution - unless some new Trek airs on that channel after that name change, I think the article should definitely be located where it is now. -- Cid Highwind 20:54, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
That was my thinking. Especially since Sci-Fi has starting doing some rebranding on their website. And when I saw a bit of it while I was down in SC this past week, they had ads that were along the lines of "Sci-Fi is going to be SyFy soon!". In between innumerable episodes of Ghost Hunters. Ew. -- sulfur 23:38, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
