The following note has lacked citation for over a year now. We need to determine which of these explanations (if either) is the case:

• The element Stimsonium was named after TNG production staff member Mark Stimson. It is an early, in-joke, reference to Ren and Stimpy, which was popular background fodder that year in DS9 Season 1.
