Deleted editEdit

I made an edit that corrected the issue´s release months. This edit was deleted because "Undo; these are not release dates, but cover dates, and they originate from my personal copies". I don't understand and need to be informed on what this is. What are "cover dates" and why are dates for the covers more important than release dates of the actual magazines? Or do I misunderstand the term "cover dates"? Peter R 20:36, January 10, 2011 (UTC)

I guess it's the date printed on the cover. In many cases, magazines are published near the end of the month preceding their cover date - the January 2011 magazine would, for example, appear in late 2010. -- Cid Highwind 21:01, January 10, 2011 (UTC)
A cover date is the one printed on the cover. Each individual magazine release article has space to put in both the cover date and release date. The main overview list is for cover dates.
The difference between cover and release dates was most obvious in the past with DC and Marvel comic books. Both would release items in December but with cover dates in February or March. -- sulfur 21:05, January 10, 2011 (UTC)
