The Interactive Tech Manual Edit

How do I get this to run under WIndows XP? --unsigned

Memory Alpha is not tech support. Iwould suggest finding the website of the company that made the software, they will often have tech support. --OuroborosCobra 18:34, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
or try to get the Windows 95 version, then run it in Win95 Compatibility Mode within Windows XP. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.73.15.144 (talk).

AccuracyEdit

It seems this, and other similar articles regarding the DS9 TM and "Mr Scott's guide to the Enterprise" are pretty complimentary about the books, particularly in the background section (which is almost identical on the three articles). Sadly I've not got a copy of any of the three, but I've seen innumerate complaints about the web that the TMs contradict not only each other, but onscreen data as well, and as such, are not regarded as canon in their speculation by the majority of fans. I believe (though it's a while since I've checked) that Bernd at EAS has a number of essays which highlight the inaccuracy of the TMs on a variety of subjects - do most people really accept this as canon and is it generally deserving of what seems like a complimentary article? - Hayter 19:17, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

I think that the DS9 TM is more commonly derided than most, but the TNG TM has its flaws too. I'm consistently surprised that it is quoted in MA articles. --88.104.132.24 21:29, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Moved from Talk:External support modeEdit

This needs a citation from a canon source. I suspect it all comes from the Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual. -- Renegade54 15:42, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

There is no canon source, at least none that I can find. The term comes straight from the manual, so I merged it with the manual's article. --From Andoria with Love 02:35, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Speaking of canon, is this whole book (and any Star Trek book that is a technical manual) canon? Doesn't it say in the manual that the show overrides these books? 66.189.37.204 18:57, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

Indeed, the books are not canon, as stated in the canon policy. --OuroborosCobra talk 20:14, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
