Mudd's connection to South AmeriicaEdit

Sometime after the Khitomer Accords, Harcourt Fenton Mudd began a Raktajino business in Colombia, distributing the Klingon coffee throughout the Federation. It was a popular beverage on Deep Space 9. (The Art of Star Trek; DS9: "Trials and Tribble-ations")

I removed this as I dont think it was ever said in Trials and Tribbles and appears to be non-canon. Someone can restore it if I'm wrong but I've watched that episode many times and dont recall ever hearing Mudd's name mentioned. -FC 00:13, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

The Background info at Raktajino would disagree with that. — Morder (talk) 00:31, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

I read up on that, it was seen on props shown in the episode, so thats fine. I did unlink Colombia since there is no article associated with the link. I cant name the policy without doing more research, but I think one of the MA policies states that articles should not knowingly have red links in them and such links should be removed unless someone is in the process of creating the actual article. -FC 01:41, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

Believe me when I say this. There's no valid policy nor reason to remove redlinks. That's the whole point of a wiki. Someone will create a page eventually, and when they do they won't have to go searching for every reference because they will automatically link. Please do not remove redlinks. — Morder (talk) 01:47, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

I've asked for clarification on the Manual of Style page. If I'm wrong, then by all means we can red link the day away. Lets just keep the link out for the meantime, say 24-48 hours until we get a third party opinion. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just saying that we need to clarify the policy. -FC 01:50, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

If redlinks didn't exist nobody would know to create a page. There's no policy as to putting redlinks on because it's the very nature of a wiki. There is however no policy that states we remove them. It would be pointless. — Morder (talk) 01:54, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

Followup to this that I created the article so the redlink is gone. I do recall seeing such a policy about two years ago, but cant recall where. I asked for clarification on the Manual of Style page. -FC 01:56, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

Understood, however you'll get the same reply as I posted here. The only reason to remove a red link is when it links to a non-canon title. — Morder (talk) 01:58, December 14, 2009 (UTC)
