Need New CategoryEdit

I don't get this. This "information" was placed into background material as decoration, and couldn't really be seen on TV at the time. Much like the picture of The Great Bird of the Galaxy and the USS Elmer Fudd. Why is this being given the same weight as material clearly intended to be seen and heard? It is funny and interesting, yes. Yet I would think these sorts of decorative filler material should be relegated to a category of "Decorative Information" or even the existing "Real World Article" or some such thing. Otherwise it simply demeans the efforts of the production staff by saying that the USS Elmer Fudd and Dent Arthur Dent have the same canon value at the USS Horizon and Captain Pike. 173.72.222.233 21:32, July 31, 2012 (UTC)

Our mission is to be the "most definitive, accurate, and accessible encyclopedia and reference for everything related to Star Trek." That means, if it appeared in canon, it gets covered as part of canon. We have many articles about things not clearly seen (Retrofitted dorsal carrier, George W. Bush, Lyndon Johnson) and even things meant as a joke (USS Alka-Selsior, Gene Roddenberry (Admiral)). It would be a pretty messy business to pick and choose what background material is canon and what isn't.31dot (talk) 02:57, August 1, 2012 (UTC)
