I removed the following:

• The word may derive from the vulgar slang "bullshit", since there is no contemporary analog for "shale".

I've added those references. Since this article describes both a rock and a slang, the slang info could be moved to Shale (slang). However, since the slang part is just two little sentences, it might be best just to leave it here. --From Andoria with Love 04:33, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
