Dick Dial/John Cavett Edit

Since this is probably not Dick Dial, I'm suggesting he was played by John Cavett. Cavett is in the episode's closing credits as "Guard" and it is a speaking part. --Myko 08:52, 7 Apr 2005 (EDT)

Robert F. Hoy Edit

Because of the recent death of stuntman and actor Robert F. Hoy I've searched the web to find information about him. IMDb is listing him as the "Horta" which is wrong IMO. But I've found another character which might be played by Hoy, the miner Sam. MA is currently listing Jon Cavett as Sam but I think this is wrong. I've just watched the episode "The Devil in the Dark" again and I think that Cavett portrayed the unfortunate Enterprise security officer as MA listed previously. I've compared the images on Hoy's official site to the images of Sam (miner) and I think that this is Hoy. [1] I don't have any proof but I try to get further information about this. Further research reveals this conversation [2] on Facebook with this comment by user John Ellis:

• During the commentary recording for the Steve Canyon episode THE SEARCH, Bob revealed he was inside the Horta suit (designed and built by his friend Janos Prohaska) in Star Trek. I just jumped through hoops to get IMDB to accept adding him to the credits for that episode, THE DEVIL IN THE DARK.

I've got e-mails from the webmaster of his official site and the Stuntmen's Association of Motion Pictures who both confirmed that Sam, the miner was played by Bob Hoy. The webmaster also told me about Hoy's information being in the Horta suit. I've created the article. – Tom 15:43, February 20, 2010 (UTC)
