PNAEdit

Needs to be expanded to include further details from episodes which mentioned the ship; such as mission destinations, cargo's carried, timeframes, a picture, etc. --Gvsualan 07:40, 21 Mar 2005 (EST)

Perhaps, in addition to the picture posted, a clearer, obstruction free shot of the ship, either from "The Way of the Warrior" or later on in "For the Cause" would give a better perspective of what it looks like. --Gvsualan 08:13, 21 Mar 2005 (EST)

Old model/New design?Edit

Was the Xhosa a reuse of an existing model or a new design? -- Rebel Strike 11:22, 29 May 2005 (UTC)

Name OriginsEdit

I removed the speculation that the ship was possibly named by Yates because it was named after an African tribe. I find that hideously racist, that a ship named after Africans must have been named by an African. --The Rev 01:46, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

I don't think it's necessarily racist, anymore than Sisko owning a large collection of ancient African art is racist (see DS9: "The Search, Part I"). Obviously many people in the 24th century (and in the real world, too!) are interested in their heritage and where they come from; it's not too big a stretch, and certainly not racist, to think Yates may have named the ship in honor of her ancestors (assuming she had Xhosa ancestry). --81.158.147.232 00:41, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Regardless, it was a good thing to remove, since it was pretty speculative. And we don't like speculation. :) -- Sulfur 19:52, 14 February 2008 (EST)
Actually, the note was re-added in a rewrite of the background by Gvsualan last year; what is in the article is pretty similar to what The Rev removed two years ago. The note is not racist given the pride people place into their ancestry in the ST universe, and is very reasonable speculation, so should be left in. – Cleanse 04:59, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Pronunciation Edit

  • The pronunciation of Xhosa in the series is in correct - it has a click sound towards the beginning - a closer pronunciation using the English dictionary would be Khossa.

Removed, as the pronunciation is what was said in the show, and is not subject to analysis or comparison. Many words are not pronounced as they would appear to be.--31dot 01:46, April 25, 2010 (UTC)
