Blood and Fire Edit

Removed the following because fan films are an Invalid resource, and a pitch that was not produced is not canon.

Gerrold reportedly pitched a script for Star Trek: The Next Generation involving infections of bloodworms carried by helpless victims. The story used bloodworm infection as a metaphor for the 1980s AIDS crisis, describing the same kinds of mistreatment and persecution of carriers. The story was adapted for the New Voyages fan film episode "Blood and Fire" – The preceding unsigned comment was added by ZenMondo (talk • contribs).

While not canon, unproduced stories are valid background information, so long as they can be cited. They are actually "Production and reference materials" in the policy you cite. Thus I returned that bit of the note.

I cited it to the website provided at Undeveloped Star Trek episodes. That in turn refers to Trek: The Unauthorized Behind-The-Scenes Story of The Next Generation, but since I don't have the book I didn't add that reference.

It's a well-known script. Wikipedia has an article on the script with some more citations - it was mentioned in Star Trek Monthly for example. See Blood and Fire (Star Trek). Memory-erasing? Edit

This article and Stratagem mention that the bloodworms themselves were used to erase Degra's memory. I REALLY don't think that was the case, since they clean the lymphatic system and that has to do with the body's immune system. I think they were injected to create the illusion that the bloodworms were some kind of interrogation mechanism.- JustPhil 23:35, October 14, 2010 (UTC)
