IdentityEdit

How do we know it was Pioneer 10 and not 11? They were virtually identical. --ChrisK 00:22, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Good point. The only version of the script I have just says "A Pioneer probe". --OuroborosCobra talk 00:24, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
I think the Mike Okuda text commentary identifies it, but I may be wrong. - AJ Halliwell 00:26, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Trajectory and speed Edit

Incidentally, the vessel's passing through Klingon space is technically more than just "considered apocryphal by Gene." Namely, there is no way it could've gotten that far, since traversing the distance between stars for these four spacecraft (soon to be five, with New Horizons) is to take place over hundreds of thousands of years, and not two hundred and fifty. Semantics, yes, but their supposedly blowing up one of them just p/ssed me off, and is yet another reason I have problems with V. --ChrisK 09:04, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Either that or it was a very bold act of daring for a Klingon to deliberately approach within such a small fraction of a light year (822 AU) of Earth and blow up a probe for target practice. On the other hand, the Enterprise seems to be the only ship ever on hand to respond to a crisis and requests for assistance are usually not answered because there are no other ships in the area when the crisis ensues, so, maybe it wasn't so daring after all- with the enterprise conveniently absent, target practice season is open! On another note, most star maps put the Klingon empire in the direction Pioneer 10 is headed-towards Aldebaran and away from the galactic center. It would, however, take 2 million years to get to Aldeberan at a current speed of 2.6 AU per year The preceding unsigned comment was added by 98.219.220.143 (talk).
