Cut scene?Edit

Why is Star Trek Generations listed as a source for orbital skydiving? I thought that scene was cut? Aholland 05:03, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Doesn't that make it a "Restricted Validity Resource" (i.e. a valid but non-canon resource)? :D After all, we have other articles based on scenes that were cut and not refilmed for the intentions of overriding the previously filmed-but-cut scene. And I seriously hope that made sense... (For the record, the scene is on the Special Edition DVD) --From Andoria with Love 05:09, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
I think it does meet the RVR® criteria, from what I recall. What I saw of that deleted scene wasn't from the DVD, but what I saw looked so bad, lacking in any serious post-production, that I can imagine the shoot was a ego-stroke for Shatner, and ditched pretty soon afterward. But I don't think it conflicted with anything shown in the theatrical release, and a holodeck version of the concept was later used by Torres in VOY. Maybe commentary on the SE disc might shed more light on the scene. --Aurelius Kirk 05:28, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
I dunno, Shatner got paid for the scene and screencaps are available of "him" skydiving... also, Torres did some orbital skydiving in "Extreme Risk" reusing Kirks nonexisting orbital skydiving attire. --Alan del Beccio 06:09, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
Does use of "RVR" mean I should get royalties?  :) Thanks for noting it in the article. And - FYI - it would, indeed, be RVR and usable in an article to support other, valid, info. Just like here. I simply forgot the thing still existed on the DVD. Aholland 12:19, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
