Removed - Identity Crisis[]
This material was added to the article at some point along the way. It's a bit speculative and weaves in and out of the wrong POV. I'm not convinced that it should belong...
- It was possible Leslie was very quick and had a unique ability to change clothes and duty stations. It was possible that Leslie was the one man in Starfleet who could work medical, navigation, engineering and security. On the other hand, it could also be presumed that there was more than one individual who looked like Leslie serving aboard the Enterprise. For example, during (TOS: "Assignment: Earth") the time traveling mission to 1968 Leslie was seen on the bridge at the Engineering station in a red officer's uniform, then a few minutes later he (or someone who looks just like him) was seen working in a red jump suit behind Mr. Scott in Engineering. However seconds later Leslie (or one of his doppelgangers) was in the transporter room where he was rendered unconscious by Gary Seven. If there was only one Leslie aboard the Enterprise, that man was possessed of the remarkable ability to man several unrelated duty stations and could quickly change uniforms and was also possessed of the ability to regrow red blood cells after he was dead. On the other hand, if there were several Leslie brothers (or Leslie clones) who served aboard the Enterprise, it seemed odd that the Leslies never appeared to be in the same room at the same time.
Thoughts? -- sulfur (talk) 16:28, September 24, 2015 (UTC)
- In the TOS: "Balance of Terror" at around 4:40 Kirk opens shipwide communications and there is Leslie (in a gold shirt) in the hallway. Then Kirk gets up walks around the bridge and there is Leslie in a red shirt at the engineering station.
- In the TOS: "The Corbomite Maneuver" with 27:35 left in the episode Kirk addresses the crew and we see Leslie (again in a gold shirt) and seconds later we see Leslie (again in a red shirt) at the engineering station.
- In fact, through-out the series whenever the captain addresses the crew you will find the gold shirted Leslie wandering the halls and almost at the exact same time you will find the red shirt Leslie at his post on the bridge. Leslie did NOT come back from the dead. There were AT LEAST two Leslies. If you add in Connor in medical there were probably three Leslies. I don't know if they were clones or just twins, but they were two different people.
- The current article is nonsense. 2600:8806:3306:5700:7CC6:179E:34FF:4E26 23:16, April 2, 2018 (UTC)
- This page presents a thorny problem for the editors. Either what is onscreen is canon or not. On screen, there are multiple Leslies, but in this article there is but one Leslie who is also Ryan. If you're going to make a judgement call so be it, but at least make it clear to the reader that there is a potential issue. 98.175.27.155 18:35, May 21, 2020 (UTC)
Lesley[]
The article notes his only appearance credited as Leslie used the spelling "Lesley" -- so why doesn't the article title and links to this page use that spelling? -- Captain MKB 21:04, March 6, 2016 (UTC)
- It's four years later, but I agree, and have added a rename suggestion notice. An example of precedent to apply would be R.M. Merik (over Merrick), yes? Screencap for reference: column 3, row six --Side Rat (talk) 01:56, March 29, 2020 (UTC)
- While I agree that the precedence set by Merik is valid, in as far as it was the deciding factor 15 years ago when there were apparently two pages for the same individual. Otherwise, it is certainly noteworthy that the origin, source and spelling, is well documented to indicate the credited spelling is in error, rather than the intended. --Alan (talk) 02:52, March 29, 2020 (UTC)
