ColloquialismEdit

Has anyone considered warbird merely being considered a colloquialism? In the new film the ships in the simulation looked just like an updated D7-class or K't'inga-class. – Alientraveller 23:03, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

It wasn't used as a colloquialism before in the extensive volumes of Trek canon, over multiple centuries. --OuroborosCobra talk 23:21, October 25, 2009 (UTC)
Yes. Absent someone in canon saying it was merely a colloquialism, we have to assume it is the actual term.--31dot 23:22, October 25, 2009 (UTC)
Might be an idea worth forwarding to the script writers of Star Trek XII though. - Archduk3:talk 23:31, October 25, 2009 (UTC)

If the ships incorporate the feather-like hull structures evident in the concept designs on this page, which the D7 obviously didn't (the K't'inga kind of did, but by the time they were introduced, Starfleet was calling the its near-lookalike predecessor - I wonder if some K't'ingas weren't D7s refitted like the show and film Constitutions - so they just kept the name they already had), I can see how this one might be called a "warbird" and the D7 a "battle cruiser".--Ten-pint 17:36, January 8, 2010 (UTC)

Separate Page?Edit

Curious question, should we have a separate page for the information given in "Broken Bow" and Star Trek, while there isn't a lot of information available, the designations (or the ships, perhaps better termed) are a century apart. It just seems to be speculation to me to combine the two different centuries of information, thereby a "safer" path being separate pages (after all, if we're wrong on this, one could just re-combine it, yes?). --Terran Officer 03:13, April 15, 2010 (UTC)

Since other pages like Klingon Bird-of-Prey aren't, I would say no, as the Bird-of-Prey covers even more time. - Archduk3 03:21, April 15, 2010 (UTC)

Vorok's ship Edit

Could Vorok's battle cruiser from ENT: "Unexpected" be a 22nd century Klingon warbird? - Mitchz95 (talk) 01:44, September 20, 2012 (UTC)

It's possible, but there is no direct evidence. It was called a Klingon battle cruiser in dialogue, but then again a Romulan warbird was called a Romulan battle cruiser in TNG: "Contagion". --Pseudohuman (talk) 10:48, September 20, 2012 (UTC)
