Class F shuttlecraft Edit

Should the Class F shuttlecraft be noted here, or is ion engine power too attenuated? --GNDN 10:07, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Star Trek Encyclopedia and the official database entry under "Ion Propulsion" states that ion propulsion was in use on "Class F shuttles in the 2260's". This seems to be in contradiction to the statement that the Federation considered it only theoretical, though the actual statement makes reference to it being theoretical for interstellar travel. Since the primary method of interstellar travel on Federation ships is warp drive, it could be this reference meant that ion propulsion is theoretical as a basis for interstellar (presumably FTL) travel (which makes sense with real-world physics regarding our current understanding of ion propulsion, it's much too slow). -- 15:04, August 15, 2014 (UTC)
