Some fans speculate that Gorlan Station may have belonged to the Terran Empire. There is some canon evidence to prove this theory: many years later, Captain Kirk suppressed an uprising at Gorlan by destroying the rebels' home planet, suggesting that Gorlan had – up to that point – been part of the Empire.
