RalstonEdit

Gilber Ralston was my writing instructor while attending Tahoe College and later Sierra Nevada College. Later, he would tutor us at his home in Genoa, Nevada. He was a "no-nonsense" person when it came to writing. He used to tell me to avoid group therapy as I was a psychology student, at the time. "Instead," he said, "throw it into your writing, not onto the carpet".

He was a kindly man. I would visit him throughout the years. He was forever reinventing himself, becoming a "body worker", helping people to become more healthy, reversing his advice to me about writing. I think body and soul became more important later, than the craft of writing.
