Is this article really needed? Aholland 01:26, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

It was referenced, so... why not? ;) --From Andoria with Love 18:39, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

So is the word article, now. But that doesn't make it right.  :) Honestly, though, I thought that if a word or phrase didn't have a Trek connection - unique from common definitions and/or needed to understand articles - that it wasn't to form the basis of an article. In other words, this place ain't Wikipedia. Thoughts? Aholland 18:59, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

Eh, based on the way it was used, I think I agree with you. If, on the other hand, the Enterprise crew had found an encyclopedia or something, well, then, that would be different. ;) --From Andoria with Love 20:15, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. So let's see if anyone has any Trek related stuff, and if not we'll snuff this one out through the deletion page. (And I removed my article reference on "article"; don't want anyone to get any ideas!)Aholland 21:02, 21 February 2006 (UTC)
Although I note the additional instances where the word "encyclopedia" is used in Trek, it still strikes me as being like having an article on "boot", "chair", or "button" - all words that were used in Trek but used in the same exact manner as their common English meanings and without any specific Trek significance. I still don't yet see any compelling reason to keep this around. Aholland 15:38, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
Still not convinced this is useful, but what on earth is a "Lawmim Galactopedia"? Aholland 20:17, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
The Lawmim Galactopedia was one of the objects in Kivas Fajo's collection (specifically referenced, might not have been seen).--Tim Thomason 23:14, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. I found it based on your pointer and it was only named, not shown as far as I can tell. For purposes of inclusion in the article I worry about how we can possibly know it is a type of encyclopedia as opposed to - say - a novel like "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"? Or a type of blender? I'm still concerned about Memory Alpha becoming a compendium of words that have common usage and no unique Trek connection other than having been spoken.
