When I first heard Kes's statement that she had an uncle called Elrem, I reconciled the canonical inconsistency by assuming Elrem was an adopted child. While the half-uncle theory is quite plausible too, I was thinking perhaps we could add the adoption theory too. But I wanted to get some other opinions on the issue first.
