Earth Cold WarEdit

I love the article, but would it not better as just Cold War? It wasn't primarily between the USA and the USSR. Excelsior 14:28, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I wondered about that. But then there are other Cold Wars in Trek history and I think it would be 'human-centric' to set this one up as THE definitive cold war. Maybe the solution is an article for a short definition of Cold War and a list of Cold Wars (US-USSR, Federation-Klingon, Federation-Romulan, etc)? Logan 5 14:32, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Maybe Earth Cold War or something similar is called for. Excelsior 14:36, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Renaming this to Earth Cold War works for me, but I don't have the ability to rename articles so... and the link from "Our Man Bashir" and Julian Bashir, Secret Agent would need to be changed afterwards Logan 5 14:45, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

All you have to do is click on the 'move' button beside 'history.' Excelsior 14:50, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Well, whaddaya know...done.Logan 5 14:54, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Its a good article. Excelsior 13:07, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)

American and Soviet flags Edit

Why should the American and Soviet flags *not* be part of this article? Star Trek is set in "real" history and a website that is devoted to Star Trek in all its incarnations would permit the flags of the nations involved in one of its articles to be displayed. Dr. Floyd 12:33, 14 Aug 2005 (EST)

Because (a) they have been nominated for deletion, and (b) they did not originate from a Trek source and are really Trek irrelevant -- as reference to the flag was not verbally or visually described (as the nation flags mentioned on flags and banners were). Memory Alpha is not Wikipedia. Memory Alpha pages are (or should be) based (primarily, and in most cases, solely) on information drawn from Trek sources -- and in (most) cases, images (should be) drawn from screencaps. The incarnation of the Soviet flag shown on this page was not shown in the Star Trek universe (nor was it even mentioned). At most, an external link to flag of the Soviet Union would more than suffice. (On a related note, the Soviet flag isn't even found on the {{w|Cold War|corresponding Wikipedia article]].) Finally, what do you mean by 'Star Trek is set in "real" history'? If it means what I think it means, it is only set in "'real' history" as much as what we have seen referenced in Star Trek, very little (if nothing) more. --Alan del Beccio 05:02, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Real history Edit

The real history thing goes out the window - Eugenics Wars for an example. Jaf 05:11, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)Jaf
