McCoy and Starfleet AcademyEdit
- Is the speculation about McCoy not attending Starfleet Academy because he doesn't know one term accurate? I can't see this being adequete proof of this. - Adm. Enzo Aquarius 04:52, 4 Jan 2006 (UTC)
- It's speculation(and explains itself away) so I have removed it.
- McCoy's ignorance of the term suggests that unlike Kirk, McCoy did not graduate from Starfleet Academy but rather received a direct commissioning appointment to Starfleet. This is consistent with the way many staff officers (physicians, lawyers, chaplains) join the U.S armed services today. Or perhaps McCoy wasn't aware of the jargon of the day whereas Wesley and Kirk were.--31dot 08:15, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
Any Correlation? Edit
I'm probably wrong here, but I'll ask anyway. Is there any possible correlation between the non-canon Captain Roy Dunsel, who destroyed the NX-03, and the origin of this term? I know it's non-canon, but it might make an interesting note at the bottom of the page. --126.96.36.199 00:34, November 23, 2011 (UTC)
- It's possible that the author used the term as a name intentionally. But without a citation, we can't mention it. -- sulfur 00:45, November 23, 2011 (UTC)
