I've been watching a lot of Deep Space 9. While it was never mentioned on screen, isn't Nog the communications officer on the Defiant? He seems tasked with delivering all (or nearly all) ingoing and outgoing communications, especially during fleet operations like large scale battles. - Aisynia Nov 22 2009
