I am not aware of any Voyager dialogue that establishes the criteria for a Y Class planet as anything other than a surface temperature in excess of 500 degrees Kelvin and a toxic atmospher filled with thermionic radiation. Canon sources need to be cited. Aholland 02:35, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

"Information primarily taken from Star Trek: Star Charts." --Alan del Beccio 02:42, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
That's my point; the Star Charts are not canon. Are you aware of anything in the show that supports the information? Aholland 02:52, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
I've made an edit which separates the controversial (non-canon) data. I beleive Alan, in response to your question, was trying to inform you that whoever wrote the passage had made an attempt to explain the origin of the incorrectly placed info. -- Captain Mike K. Barteltalk 03:38, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
I appreciate your making the change. I think it reads very nicely now.  :) Aholland 04:06, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Kyrian sectorEdit

The planet was not identified as being in the "Kyrian sector" - at least in dialogue in the episode. Please identify the source of the information if someone has it; for the moment I am removing the recent addition as I believe it incorrect. Aholland 11:43, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

It was identified as being in the Vaskan sector in "Course: Oblivion". Makes more sense, considering that the Vaskans were the dominant power at that time. --Jörg 12:22, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Good catch! I added the episode reference. Aholland 14:21, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Transporters?Edit

My memory fails me, but was it said whether or not a transporter would work on a Class Y planet? --Terran Officer 05:42, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Voyager did attempt to beam deuterium up at first, then the pattern buffers overloaded. So I'd take that as a "potentially can, but if you're not careful and lucky it'll go horribly wrong" 65.100.195.193 04:37, April 6, 2013 (UTC)

Venus? Edit

Does Venus count as a Class Y Planet? I've wondered since the episode originally aired. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 173.33.18.10 (talk).

According to the non-canon Star Trek: Star Charts it was a class-N planet, but this was not said in canon, according to the Venus article. 31dot (talk) 11:22, July 29, 2013 (UTC)
