Merge w/Ghost?Edit

Are there other references to Borhya that warrant this external article? Or should it simply be merged with the ghost article and mentioned as one culture's term for ghost (similar to the Klingon reference on said page)? -Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa 14:49, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

It shouldn't be merged with ghost, because nowhere in the episode is it stated that "borhya is the Bajoran term for ghost".
The dialogue goes like this:
Geordi: "What are you saying, that we are spirits?"
Ro Laren: "Spirits, souls, my people call them Borhyas. Whatever term you want to use, we're it."
Ghosts are mentioned nowhere and spirits and souls are something different. I therefore would just leave this article alone. --Jörg 15:32, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
I disagree. From the script:
Geordi: "You're saying I'm a blind ghost with clothes?"
Spirit on earth = soul on earth = ghost. I'm not sure where the confusion lies. -Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa 16:54, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
I know that ghosts were mentioned in the episode, but Ro only links borhyas to spirits and souls, that is why I think merging the term with ghost is not a good idea. We could just as well merge pagh with soul. While the terms are very similar, I think there still is a destinction between what humans call ghosts and what Bajorans call borhyas, souls or spirits so this article deserves being on its own. --Jörg 17:16, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
Spirts, souls and ghosts are a lot of different concepts being reduced in english. And thinking that a person can only have one is a very chirstian concept, voodoo and several native american religions allow for a person to have several. Jaf 22:42, 16 November 2006 (UTC)Jaf
i don't necessarily think to disagree with the practice of keeping 'alien language' terms as separate articles, but in the case of other alien 'terms' redirecting back to a language article. for example, if borhya or pagh don't redir back to 'Bajoran language', should at least link to it. generally do we think 'terms' should redir back to 'XX language' while 'definitions' should either a) have their own article based on whether they have a separate definition, or b) redir back to the english standard translation of whatever they are defining, should one exist? -- Captain M.K.B. 08:55, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
which leads a question: should we create a "list of non-English terms and names" to track all the foreign or alien language material out there? -- Captain M.K.B. 08:58, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
That's a great idea. I tend to think that if the words had direct translations we would have just heard them in english and therefore need their own pages for being their own concepts. Jaf 13:26, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Jaf

Pronounciation? Edit

Can someone who knows the pronounciation add it? -Fsotrain09 03:01, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

It's pronounced "bore-hah". -- Kingfisher 03:36, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
