DefinitionEdit

If the definition of bacon wasn't stated in canon, it shouldn't be here. Maybe it was turkey bacon or soy bacon or some non-earth animal. If it was stated, then a citation should be supplied. --StarFire209 23:41, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

As an eater of turkey bacon (I'm Jewish, can't have bacon), we never say "bacon" when we mean "turkey bacon" or "soy bacon". Bacon is made from a pig. Plain and simple. Turkey bacon is made from a turkey, bacon is not. In addition, it is standard practice for a limited amount of real world information to go into articles, as is done in beer (starch in production is never stated in canon), whisky (the numbers of possible source ingredients are never stated in canon), George H. W. Bush (his years of presidency and number aren't in canon). A limited amount of real world information, so that the article doesn't look like "unnamed timestream human X", rather than the stub on Bush we have. If you have a problem with this practice, I ask that you bring it up in the forums, as this would affect about half of the articles here, not just this one. --OuroborosCobra talk 23:57, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
I should add that even wikipedia:bacon does not define bacon as being a meat made in this manner from any number of animals, such as turkey or chicken, it defines it as coming from a pig, while saying that similar products such as "chicken or turkey bacon" exist. --OuroborosCobra talk 00:00, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
