• Even though Bashir says that spontaneous development of aphasia is impossible, in reality, aphasia can begin quite suddenly under certain circumstances, for example, during transient ischemic episodes in the brain. Perhaps by "spontaneous," Bashir meant idiopathic or without identifiable cause.
