It would seem more likely that Babaloo was in reference to Ricky Ricardo, and his music, then it was to a bit character on Welcome Back Kotter.

More than that, I gotta ask: What Welcome Back, Kotter character? I mean, there was Vinnie Barbarino, but I don't remember any character named Babaloo.
