American

Im reluctant about redirecting this page to United States of America, so I just created a stub. However, since the term was used, it should legitmately have its own page just like everything else. --Alan del Beccio 19:04, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Americans other than Americans

An Anon User just added this old saw to the article, and it's bound to come up a again, so I've moved it here.

In a sense, that's true, but only if you wish to be misunderstood when describing the nationality of someone not of the United States of America. But nevermind the practical application of the term in the real world, when Trek makes mention of Janeway, Sisko and Kirk's American backgrounds, it's obviously not in reference to Argentina. --Aurelius Kirk 21:43, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

US qualifier

I understand why this was moved here, but in the same breath, it adds an unnecessary qualifier to the title, as the term (and article) "American" was never used in the Trek universe to describe anything else but one from the US. From the in-universe pov on this article -- again remembering the term American was never used to describe anyone who was not from the US -- adding the US qualifier is simply redundant. --Alan del Beccio 20:47, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

I agree. I only moved it here to make the title less awkward than "United States Americans", but I think it should just be "Americans". -- Renegade54 05:58, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
