Question? Edit

This is an article about a real person, yet the links in the first part of the article link the the fictional, trek universe Brooklyn, New York? Is this standard practice?--172.147.60.167 00:31, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

If someone really wants to learn about Brooklyn, New York, wouldn't a link to Brooklyn, New York be more helpful? Unless there's an unwritten rule about not over linking to wikipedia? --172.147.60.167 00:32, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

It used to be standard practice (well, I used to do it, at least), but since then it's been decided that such links don't really belong in a 'real-world" page. We just haven't actually gone through all the pages that have already been written to remove the links yet. I'll remove the unnecessary links from this page, though (if it hasn't been done already). --From Andoria with Love 02:54, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
As a further comment, the original thought behind linking to the fictional places was that people could go there and then use the Wikipedia link there to learn about the real place. Someone, somewhere along the way, pointed out that that method was a bit silly really. -- Sulfur 02:59, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
