Alice's Adventures in Wonderland vs. Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found ThereEdit

The "Star Trek universe" version may differ, but in the real Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There the Queen of Hearts is not a character, even though Spock claims she was in "Once Upon a Planet". She and the other playing-card-based characters only appeared in Alice's Adventure in Wonderland. Through The Looking Glass featured chess pieces, not play cards. The equivalent character in that book was the Red Queen (red chess pieces were used instead of black ones), who is often mistaken for the Queen of Hearts, but shares none of her traits others than being a queen.

However, there have been numerous books and films based upon Lewis Carroll's novels that used elements from both books (such as the 1951 Disney film Alice in Wonderland which was primarily based upon Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, but included Tweedledum and Tweedledee from Through the Looking Glass). It is possible that Alice Through The Looking Glass was not the original novel itself, but a crude reproduction Amanda allowed Spock to read. (I find it had to believe that Spock would confuse the two books, or characters from them, if he'd read either of them.) Vern4760 15:54, February 5, 2010 (UTC)
