The Tal-Shaya is a Vulcan martial arts technique. It is a deadly maneuver (similar to the Vulcan nerve pinch) that snaps the neck portion of a spinal cord. It was considered a merciful form of execution in ancient times on Vulcan.
In 2268, during his journey to the Babel Conference aboard the USS Enterprise, Ambassador Sarek of Vulcan was suspected of murdering Ambassador Gav by using the method of Tal-Shaya. Although he was later proven innocent. (TOS: "Journey to Babel")
- This is probably related to the Suus Mahna, the Vulcan martial arts that T'Pol taught the colonists in ENT: "Marauders".
