Tahal was a bright star visible from Kelemane's planet that early civilization of Kelemane's species considered a god.

When the USS Voyager became trapped in orbit above Kelemane's planet in 2376, the light reflected by the ship made it brighter than Tahal. This coinciding with the seismic disruption caused by Voyager's presence while a worshipper was giving an offering of fire fruit to Tahal made the people on the surface believe that Voyager was a new god, stronger than Tahal. From that time on the new god was called the "Ground Shaker" and was the only one to whom the fire fruit was offered. (VOY: "Blink of an Eye")
